UK Rigging are pleased to announce they will be delivering the new PLASA qualification, the National Event Lifting Certificate (NELC). The qualification will undergo pilots in December 2015 – February 2016 and is set to be launched in early 2016.
The qualification has been needed for a long time. There are many operatives in the industry who carry out ‘rigging’ procedures without ever working at height; meaning the National Rigging Certificate (NRC) is unsuitable or unachievable for them. These rigging procedures include slinging trusses, hanging objects from trusses, suspending PA systems, rigging video screens and operating hoist controllers for all of the above and more. These are all potentially very risky operations. If you are carrying them out, you should be competent and qualified to do so!
The NELC qualification will allow employers and venues to asses and prove people’s competence against a minimum set standard, in order to improve their safety record.
