URGENT Safety Notice for PETZL ASTRO BOD FAST, ASTRO SIT FAST, and CANYON GUIDE harnesses

There has been an urgent safety notice on certain batches of the Astro and Canyon harnesses.

Please click here to see the safety alert and check if you are affected.

Affected Harnesses

All ASTRO and CANYON GUIDE harnesses with serial numbers below 23J 9999999 999 are affected by this replacement (same scope as the harnesses covered by the 2023 call for inspection).
NB : The latest versions of the ASTRO and ASTRO SIT, sold since February 2025, are not affected by this safety alert.

Petzl have found that the Harnesses may present a non-conformity which cannot be detected by the test requested in the previous call for inspection. This non-conformity, combined with a specific use involving high lateral stress on the attachment point, leads to premature wear of the screws.

This wear can cause the ventral D-ring’s pin to release, and the attachment point to open, which could lead to serious injury or death.

Petzl ask that you replace the metal D-ring and the screws on the gated ventral attachment point (using the replacement kit made available to you).

How to get a replacement kit

Contact your local Petzl after-sales service via the after-sales service section of the contact form to get a replacement kit (D-ring and screws) suitable for the gated ventral attachment point of your harness. The kit will be sent to you free of charge, with the associated installation instructions.

Once you place your order, Petzl will normally ship your replacement kit within one week.

Even if your harness was inspected as part of the 2023 recall, you must still carry out the replacement.

Petzl have not been made aware of any injuries associated with this recall but as part of their ongoing commitment to user safety, have issued this notice and urgent call for replacement of the Ventral D Ring screws.
