JOB VACANCY – IT TECHNICIAN
UK Rigging is a Bolton based company who provide rigging services to the entertainment industry. We are looking for a new IT Technician to join the team.
The role will involve maintaining existing computers, network and VOIP phone systems, supporting staff where needed and to expand the network and infrastructure under the direction of the remote IT Manager. The role will be based in our busy shared office.
The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver who is eager to learn. They must be proactive with a hard-working attitude and a good team ethic. They will be self-motivated, with the ability to work alone and to prioritise tasks. Excellent communication skills, with good written and spoken English are essential.
The position available is full time, 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 17:00 plus flexible overtime as and when required. Slightly flexed start and finish times may be considered if the candidate needs to fit working hours around other arrangements.
Required Technical Experience
- Windows OS support – Windows 7 / 10
- Backup and restore experience
- IT hardware and software setup
- General understanding of networking
- Wi-Fi deployment and management
- Support role experience
Optional Experience
- Networking understanding – TCP/IP, routing, subnetting and basic VLAN
- Exposure to virtualization, understanding of how it works
- VoIP – Asterisk or similar
- Development and/or scripting experience
- Web server – SSL and Certificates
- Linux Experience
- Server setup and maintenance
Key Responsibilities
- Auditing existing workstations and equipment
- Setting up new workstations and equipment
- Supporting staff where required with technical tasks, desktop hardware and software issues
- Liaising with external suppliers and ordering components
- Assessing suitability of new contracts for devices such as printers
- Data management, including full backups of all important data
- Troubleshooting technical problems and liaising with the IT Manager
- Maintaining existing network infrastructure, including servers and switches*
- Managing VOIP phone infrastructure*
