General

UK Rigging returned from a very successful exhibition at PLASA London. It was the first opportunity for people to see the new orange truss stand.

Staff were kept busy throughout the three days; there was lots of interest in the Three Day Rigging Course, of which bookings can be made here. A large number of potential clients also enquired for courses to be delivered at clients premises, more details of bespoke training or training at your venue can be found here.

The next event for UK Rigging will be PLASA Glasgow on 17th January 2018; we hope you can join us!

Employee News

UK Rigging  welcome two new staff members, Julia North who will be working in Crew Bookings and Jay Redfern who has joined us in the role of Warehouse Operative.

Congratulations to Mike and Vicki and Michael and NickI on the births of their babies, Lucy and Leo!

Rigging Projects and Equipment Hire

The new stock of 500kg and 1,000kg EXE-Rise chain hoists have now been delivered, these are now available to hire, with more being added in the near future.

The complete rigging service, including equipment hire and project management, was supplied for Creamfield’s Steel Yard, Manchester International Festival, TRSNMT Festival, BBC Proms In The Park Hyde Park and MOBO Awards at First Direct Arena, Leeds.

Ground Support structures were supplied for Leeds and Reading Festivals and Liverpool Cathedral. UK Rigging was also delighted to provide hire and crew for the re-opening of Manchester Arena, ‘We are Manchester’, in September.

The installation department recently carried out installations at Leeds Grand Theatre and O2 Academy Bristol.

Training Centre and Shop

The Three Day Course continues to be popular, with dates added on the website for 2018. UK Rigging has been delighted to welcome a diverse range of attendees – technicians through to managers – over the previous years and look forward to continuing to do so in the coming months.

The NRC was fully booked in both August and October; the next scheduled assessment is 21st – 22nd February 2018.

Edelrid have kindly provided six brand new Ultra Lite II hard hats for use in the training centre, feedback on work at height kits provided on the course will be most welcome and encouraged! The Ultra Lite II’s are also available to purchase in store and on line.

Ken and Liz attended, and successfully completed, the PPE Inspection Course run by Lyon Equipment at their centre in Tebay. Both thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone looking for a qualification of that type.

Petzl are upgrading various products, including harnesses, the grillon and the ASAP range and accessories. These should be available to purchase between March and May 2018. Any questions about the changes, please feel free to contact [email protected].

Production and Venue Rigging

UK Rigging provided a large number of riggers for BBC Proms, as well as providing a smaller number of riggers for numerous jobs and venues, these included; Paw Patrol the Tour, John Bishop, Emelie Sandee, WWE, Liam Gallagher and Andre Rieu. Liverpool Exhibition Centre and Arena, in particular have been busy, with lots of various jobs that have required rigging personnel.

UK Rigging was delighted to provide the rigging personnel for the UK leg of Little Mix’s tour, which kicked off on the 11th October at Newcastle Arena, and saw us providing riggers at Birmingham Genting Arena, Leeds Arena, Sheffield Arena, Manchester Arena, Cardiff Arena and Nottingham Arena.

Christmas and New Year
